   Sir,

   These are very interesting photos. Do you know the story behind these photos? Because The aircraft conducting the bombing are obviously Iranian F-4 Phantoms… bombing an Iranian helicopter base!! Do you recal why did they bomb the Iranian base?

   سلام هنرمند گرامی درود بر شما و تشکر از شما به خاطر اینکه چنین تصاویر با ارزشی را در اختیار ما قرار میدهید
   در تصاویر بالا به نظر می آید که فانتوم ایرانی مورد اثابت جنگندهء عراقی قرار گرفته و مجبور به فرود اضطراری در این پایگاه شده و برای جلوگیری از حوادث احتمالی بمبهای خود را پیش از فرود اضطراری تخلیه کرده

   * Based on date of pictures i.e. April 27th, 1981, we are thus looking at activity during “Bazi-Deraz Stage 1″ battles which started from 1 ordibehesht 1360 = 21 Apr 1981 and ran up To 9 ordibehesht 1360 = 29 Apr 1981

   * Published official Iranian Army Land Forces History books do mention Abozar Barracks being bombed by Iraqi Air force.

   * Abozar Barracks historically was base for 3rd Armoured brigade of Iranian Army 81st Armoured divisions.

   * “Bazi-Deraz” mountains lay some distance West of Abozar Barracks.

   * For sure we do see some IRIAF F-4E during bombing run.

   * Note also Iranian Army Aviation AH-1J/T Cobra Attack helicopters who also historically as and when required land and use Abozar Barracks as base.

   *The “Bazi-Deraz Stage 1″ operation initiated by Iran brought with it very sever Iraqi Counter attacks. There were few ground force available in reserves that Iran had which to be sent to area to help when battle intensified and expanded. At same time Iraqi Army managed to push more units and launch even more counter attacks and widen the battlefield putting Iranian Forces under sever Pressure.

   * At times during the battles both IRIAF and IRIAA were called in to help save the day as Iraqi forces exerted more and more pressure.

   * There are reports of Iraqi Commando activity, attempts to spoil operation behind Iranian lines. With few Iranian ground units available to help out, I am wondering if these IRIAF attacks are the stopgap forces called in.

   * Note in pictures “Abozar Barracks ” is in valley in between two mountain ranges. Iraqi land forces are actually few km on other side of one of mountain ranges in pictures.

   Very intressting photos. In the first, the second and the third photo I see 2 Iranian F-4 Phantoms… bombing a Cobra base somewhere in Iran. Do you know why they did it?

   In response to the interesting question of Iranian F-4 bombing an Iranian helicopter base, one theory could be that this was a Phantom which had earlier defected to Iraq and which later was used by the Iraqis to penetrate Iranian air defence. Reports confirmed 3 Iranian F-4s and a single F-14 defected to Iraq during the 8 years of war.

    اینجا سرزمین غرب ایران است سر پل ذهاب پایگاه هوانیروز و ارتش است سزمینی که دهها بار مورد تهاجم هواپیماهای عراقی و حتی توپخانه دور برد عراق قرار گرفت ولی مردم انجا دلیرانه شهر را ترک نکردنند و همگام دیگر رزمندگان ایران به دفاع پرداختند این سرزمین غرب ایران با مرزداران دلیر کرد ایران زمین که هنوز این غیور مردان سلحشور عشایر ی ما حافظ و نگهبان مرزهای پر افتخار کشور ایران هستند درود بیکران به یکایک این شیران پر غرور سرزمین ایران
